This one is near and dear to my heart. It used to be called the Rochestor Movies on a Shoestring Film Festival.
It's now called the Rochestor International Film Festival. http://www.rochesterfilmfest.org/
Below is an excerpt from the Home Page...
The Deadline for the 2003 year festival is February 14, 2003, aka Valentines Day. [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

The Rochester International Film Festival
Best of the Fest Screening
Friday, February 7, 2003 (A screening of works from previous festivals)
45th Rochester International Film Festival
Thursday-Saturday, May 1-3, 2003
Dryden Theater, George Eastman House, 900 East Avenue, Rochester, New York
The Rochester International Film Festival, the oldest continuously-held short film festival in the world, has been presented each year since 1959 by Movies on a Shoestring, Inc. Each festival includes a wide variety of original and imaginative works by film students, advanced amateurs, and professional filmmakers from all over the world.
Poster All filmmakers are invited to submit entries for consideration. We have no cash prizes, but each film selected for the festival is awarded our distinctive Shoestring Trophy and, since you make your films to be seen, the greatest reward of all: appreciative, movie-wise audiences viewing your work at the prestigious Dryden Theater at George Eastman House, the world's premier museum of photography and film, in Rochester, NY.
If your entry is selected for showing at the festival, we might also contact you about including it in our permanent traveling collection, The Best of the Fest, which includes the most popular films from previous festivals, based on audience surveys taken at each show. Free screenings of films and videos from the Best of the Fest can be arranged for non-commercial New York groups. We also present a Best of the Fest screening each winter at the Dryden Theater.
Movies on a Shoestring, Inc. is an independent, non-profit, all-volunteer organization. We are not affiliated with George Eastman House, but do greatly appreciate its support. A portion of the underwriting for The Best of the Fest comes from the New York State Council on the Arts. We are also grateful for the contributions of individual donors.

Do you have any films competing in any of the various film festivals? If so who are you doing?

Who am I doing?
Well, February 21st through the 23 is the The United States Super-8 Film Festival. (20) 8mm films and 8mm videos will be shown over those three days at Rutgers college.
Apparently they give out $3,000.00 award money, I assume it's spread out over several films.
Yes, I have a film showing there. I don't know what happened over the past weekend (Feb. 21st-23)

Johns Hopkins has a film festival. But the deadline is in January, so this will just be stored info for next year.
Yes, they take Super-8mm. (why wouldn't they?)

A year later, time to bump and perhaps recheck the list.
